Manheim runs 81 auction locations in the United States, and the public can buy cars at 14 of them, according to Manheim’s own public auctions page, verified August 25, 2026. Thirteen of the 14 admit public buyers in person; Manheim Nevada takes public bids online only. Every other Manheim sale in the country is Dealer-only.
Manheim does not hide this list, but it does not explain it either. This page holds the full list, what each location sells to the public, and the rules that apply when you show up — with a link to the Dealer 101 page for each location, where the address, phone, gate hours and full sale schedule live.

Which Manheim locations are open to the public?
Manheim names exactly 14 public locations, spread across 10 states. Ohio has three, Florida and Virginia have two each, and Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Tennessee have one each. Eleven of the 14 sell passenger cars only; Manheim Daytona Beach, Manheim Indianapolis and Manheim Nevada also run commercial truck and equipment sales.

Manheim Nevada admits no public buyers on site. Manheim’s own page is blunt about it: the Las Vegas location is digital bidding only, and the public cannot walk the lot or attend the sale. If Nevada is your nearest option, you are buying online.
The auction’s name and the city it sits in can differ — Manheim Cleveland is in Brook Park, Manheim Georgia is in Atlanta, Manheim Lafayette is in Scott. Sale-day patterns in the table come from each location’s own Manheim page, pulled August 2026; each Dealer 101 location page linked in the table carries the street address, phone and the full schedule, including which sale at that location is the public one.
How do you register for a Manheim public auction?
Registration happens at the auction building itself, on sale day — there is no advance online signup for in-person public buyers. Manheim’s public auction page sets the floor for the whole program: attendance is open to anyone who is “a licensed driver and at least 18 years of age,” and each location sets its own registration and inspection policies on top of that.
- Pick a location from the table and check its Dealer 101 page for hours and the sale schedule.
- Register at the facility on sale day to get a bidder number. Bring your driver’s license.
- Inspect on the lot. Cars marked for the upcoming sale can be checked in person before the auction.
- Bid in the lane. If you win, the location’s payment and pickup rules apply.
The deposit rule is the one that catches people: Manheim public auctions take deposits by cashier’s check or money order only — no cash, no credit or debit cards, no exceptions. The deposit is refunded at the end of the sale, less anything you owe on cars you won. Arriving with a card and no cashier’s check means watching, not bidding.
Do you need a Dealer license to buy at Manheim?
Not at the 14 public locations — any licensed driver 18 or older can register and bid there. At Manheim’s other 67 US auction locations, every sale is Dealer-only, and even the public locations run Dealer-only lanes alongside the public sale. A Dealer license opens all 81 Manheim auction locations, plus every other Dealer-only auction in the country. State-by-state requirements and costs are on the Dealer license guide.
Can you test drive a car at a Manheim auction?
Not as a public buyer. Manheim’s public-auction rules are flat about it: no test drives at any time at a public sale. Inspection means walking the lot — cars marked for the upcoming sale can be examined in person before auction day, and some locations post preview hours, listed on each location’s page.
Dealer sales run under different rules. Dealers can and do drive cars at some Manheim locations as part of inspection — that access comes with a Dealer license, not a public bidder number. As a public buyer, budget for the car you can see, not the drive you can’t take.
What if your state has no public Manheim location?
Manheim operates in 36 states plus Puerto Rico, but only 10 states hold public sales — so most of the country has a Manheim location the public cannot enter. From anywhere else there are three real routes:
- Bid online at Manheim Nevada — its public sale is digital, so location does not matter.
- Buy trucks and equipment online. Manheim’s commercial truck and equipment public sales at Daytona Beach, Indianapolis and Nevada take digital bids through EquipmentFacts.
- Get a Dealer license. It opens every Manheim in the country and every other Dealer-only auction with it — the state-by-state guide covers requirements and costs.
For in-person public buying without a license, Copart is the wider door: Copart sells directly to the public at 119 of its 215 yards in some form, verified against Copart’s own state licensing table in August 2026 — every yard’s rule is listed on the Dealer 101 Copart pages.
